The Impact of Diet on Maternal Health and Pregnancy Outcomes

Join Produce for Better Health (PBH) Foundation on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 from 1:00-2:00pm EST to learn about the impact of diet on maternal health and pregnancy outcomes.

The science overwhelmingly supports that pregnancy outcomes can be positively influenced by focusing on an overall healthy diet prior to and during pregnancy. This diet includes lots of fruit and veggies, in all forms grown in any manner. Recently some studies have suggested that women who are pregnant or want to become pregnant should consume a largely organic diet. This “organic only” message has been perpetuated by certain groups throughout mainstream media and social channels as well. However, instead of promoting one production method over another, shouldn’t the message to women emphasize healthy eating and an appropriate pregnancy diet?

Join Carl Keen, PhD, Professor of Nutrition & Internal Medicine at the University of California, Davis, as he reviews studies supporting diet implications on pregnancy and the importance of including fruit and veggies in the diet.
