Are You Fully Using the Fruits & Veggies—More Matters Logo & Messaging?

One of the many benefits of being a PBH donor is the use of the Fruits & Veggies—More Matters logo, especially since we know that 47 percent of Gen X Moms surveyed are more likely to purchase a product with the Fruits & Veggies—More Matters logo. In fact, last year 20 new licensees began using the logo. So, are you taking advantage of this great benefit? If not, it’s easy; here’s what you need to do:  

  • You must be licensed, which simply requires you to sign the licensing agreement and send back to PBH.
  • It’s important for you to understand how the Fruits & Veggies—More Matters brand logo should be used, so PBH has created complete brand guidelines for you to review. This would also be beneficial for those donors who haven’t used the logo in a while since the guidelines are reviewed and updated annually.
  • Products that carry the Fruits & Veggies—More Matters logo must meet certain nutritional requirements. These criteria are outlined on page 5 of the brand guidelines.
  • Once licensed you may use the logo in a variety of ways such as on your website, in your advertising, on your printed materials/signs, and of course on labeling/packaging of products that meet the nutrition criteria.

PBH encourages our donors to use the Fruits & Veggies—More Matters logo in creative ways. We regularly feature examples of the logo used on actual products in our quarterly Retail Matters newsletter and in our Annual Report. Online Resource Guide Now Available for Schools

An area of focus in recent years has been childhood obesity. The obesity rate of children is at an all-time high, and it has never been more important to start kids with good eating habits at an early age than right now. In support of this effort, PBH has many online resources designed to promote healthy eating. A new online guide is now available for educators.

The online resource guide for schools includes:  

  • An overview of PBH websites, including
  • A sampling of PBH Nutrition Catalog Products specific to school nutrition activities.
  • Links to downloadable lesson plans for teachers.
  • Ideas and tips to motivate children to eat healthfully.
  • Plans to involve parents and the community in healthy eating activities.
  • Ideas for improving cafeteria and vending machine options.
  • Featured external links.

The new online resource guide is located on the Educators page and the School Foodservice page. This guide follows the development of a similar guide for Supermarket Consumer Affairs directors and dietitians.

Use Fruits & Veggies Happenings Page to Promote Your Spring Events

The official start of spring is only a few weeks away, and it’s that time of year when farmer’s markets start offering early spring produce, gardening classes are held, and cooking classes begin featuring spring produce in their menus. Whatever the activity, class or promotion, the Fruits & Veggies—More Matters website’s Fruits & Veggies Happenings page is the ideal place to promote your event.

Consumers are able to search for local activities in their communities by entering their zip code, and there is currently a wide variety of activities listed in the database including store events, school programs, farmers markets, and classes. PDFs, photos, and information about the same event or activity occurring at multiple locations can be uploaded, making it easy to populate this interactive tool. PBH Attends National Grocers Assocation Show

PBH attended the National Grocers Association (NGA) show February 12 – 15 in Las Vegas, Nevada, where more than 200 exhibitors participated in the show’s largest-ever turnout. This year, the NGA expanded its industry partnerships and opportunities for grocers to increase collaboration, including far more fruit and vegetable exhibitors than ever before in part thanks to a produce pavilion organized by the Produce Marketing Association. The show provided PBH many opportunities to network with independent grocers and to share the Fruits & Veggies—More Matters message.

PBH to Host National Nutrition Month Themed Twitter Party

March is National Nutrition Month and this year’s theme is “Get Your Plate in Shape.” In celebration, PBH is hosting a Twitter party on Wednesday, March 7, at 4:00 p.m. (EST). We’ll be discussing how getting your plate in shape is easy when you follow the new MyPlate guidelines and how all forms count toward making half your plate fruits and vegetables. We welcome you to join the discussion with ideas, tips, and recipes you’d like to share with consumers—simply use hashtag #ShapeURPlate.
